AI to Discover Galaxies

Researchers from National Astronomical Observatory of Japan are using artificial intelligence to find and classify them from ultra-wide field-of-view images.

Using deep learning based technique on the training data, the AI was able tosuccessfully classifying the galaxy morphologies with an accuracy of 97.5%.

Such AI can help us classify other celestial bodies too.
